SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Chinese chemical company Xinjiang Tunhe has kept its 60,000 tonne/year natural-grade polybutylene terephthlate (PBT) plant in Xinjiang shut for scheduled maintenance since mid-May, a company source said on Monday.
The restart date for the unit has not been confirmed, the source added.
Another Chinese producer said the market has been bad recently because consumption is driven by consumer spending, which is lacklustre as a result of the uncertain global economy.
The company source declined to comment on whether the restart was delayed because of the weak market.
Natural-grade PBT is compounded with other addictives and used mainly in the electronic industry.
