China LLDPE futures flat on stable spot market prices

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) futures were largely unchanged at the close of trade on Thursday, in line with stable spot market prices of the polymer, industry sources said.

September LLDPE futures, the most actively traded contract on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE), closed at yuan (CNY) 9,280/tonne ($1,461/tonne) on Thursday, down by CNY10/tonne from the previous settlement price of CNY9,290/tonne on 13 June.

Around 1.79m tonnes of LLDPE or 715,194 contracts for delivery in September were traded, the DCE data.

Spot LLDPE prices in eastern China were assessed stable at CNY9,600-9,850/tonne on Thursday, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.

There is no clear direction for LLDPE prices, industry sources said.
