Europe June DMT reference price falls in line with upstream PX

LONDON (ICIS)--European June dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) reference prices fell by €74/tonne ($94/tonne) from May to €963-1,004/tonne on Friday, in line with upstream paraxylene (PX), according to an assessment by ICIS.

The European June PX contract settled at €1,090/tonne FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe), down by €120/tonne, after falls in the dominant Asia market.

The second-quarter contract price for methanol, a secondary feedstock for DMT, is €340/tonne FOB (free on board) Rotterdam, up by €20/tonne from the first quarter.

The DMT prices were assessed on a FD NWE basis.
