SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shen Hua Chemical Industrial will shut its 180,000 tonne/year styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) plant at Nantong in October for three weeks of maintenance, a company source said.

The exact dates are not confirmed.

The plant has been operating at 80% of capacity in June because of weak market conditions, the source added.

SBR prices have fallen in recent weeks because of poor demand. In the week ended 13 June, SBR non-oil grade 1502 prices were at $2,600-2,700/tonne (€2,054-2,133/tonne) CIF (cost, freight & insurance) China, down by $300/tonne since mid-May, according to ICIS.
