China’s ethylene output in May down 7.3% year on year

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s ethylene output decreased by 7.3% year on year in May, while its January-May output decreased by 3.3%  from the same period a year ago, data from the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) showed on Tuesday.

The country produced 1.27m tonnes of ethylene and 6.40m tonnes in January-May, according to the data.

Its crude output in May remained unchanged from May 2011 at 17.4m tonnes, while its January-May output fell by 1.0% year on year, the data showed.

China’s naphtha output rose by 0.8% year on year to 2.6m tonnes in May, while its January-May output increased by 1.1% year on year to 12.5m tonnes, according to the data.
