SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Toray Plastics Malaysia plans to shut two of its acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) lines in Prai Industrial Zone, Penang State, in early November for maintenance, a source close to the company said.

The two lines, of 55,000 tonnes/year capacity each, are expected to be shut for around four weeks.

Toray operates a total of six ABS lines with a total output of 330,000 tonnes/year, of which 70,000 tonnes/year are transparent resins.

ABS is used in the manufacturing of office equipments, consumer electronics, toys, and in the construction and automotive sectors as well.
