SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Samsung Fine Chemicals is scheduled to complete the expansion of its 220,000 dry metric tonne (dmt)/year caustic soda plant at Ulsan in the third quarter of 2013, a company source said on Tuesday.
The unit’s capacity will be ramped up by an additional 130,000 dmt/year, the source added.
Samsung’s caustic soda output is mainly sold in the Korean domestic market at the moment, but the producer plans to engage in exports following completion of the expansion, according to the source.
