SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) is scheduled to shut down its ethylene dichloride (EDC) and vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) plants in Mailiao in mid-August for a maintenance turnaround, a company source said on Tuesday.

The maintenance period at its 1.18m tonne/year EDC and 800,000 tonne/year VCM units will last for two weeks and one month, respectively.

The EDC plant is currently operating at around 80% capacity, while the VCM plant is running at above 90%, according to the source.

The producer also operates a 300,000 tonne/year EDC and a 780,000 tonne/year VCM facility in Kaohsiung.
