LONDON (ICIS)--Praxair China has started up its air separation plant in Wuwei, Anhui province, the industrial gases producer said on Thursday.
Praxair China, a subsidiary of US-based Praxair, said the unit has a 3,000 tonne/day capacity and will supply oxygen, nitrogen and clean air to the Anhui Wuwei coal-based chemicals project of Anhui HuaYi Chemical.
Anhui HuaYi Chemical is an affiliate of Shanghai HuaYi (Group) Company, one of China’s largest chemical groups, producing fine and specialty chemicals.
The single-train air separation unit will also generate liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon, Praxair said.
The company added that the new supply will be integrated with its liquid production and distribution network in the region, improving distribution efficiency and reliability to customers in the rapidly growing regional merchant market.
“We’re very proud to have the opportunity to further demonstrate our strengths in supporting major projects in the chemical industry and we look forward to a long and successful commercial relationship with Shanghai HuaYi (Group) Company,” said Minda Ho, president of Praxair China.
Financial details of the unit were not disclosed.
