SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Indian producer Haldia Petrochemical is running its 130,000 tonnes/year benzene unit at 75% asa a result of poor margins, a company source said on Friday.
The company reduced production at this facility ‘more than a month back’ because of poor margins caused by narrow spread from naphtha to polymers, the source added.
The producer is considering when it can ramp up production at the cracker and benzene unit, he said.
The producer has no spot benzene to offer in the regional market due to lower production rate, the source added.
The other Indian benzene producers are Reliance Industries Limited and Indian Oil.
