SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical plans to shut its 350,000 tonne/year phenol/acetone unit at Binhai in Tianjin on 22 August for maintenance amid a lack of feedstock benzene and propene, a company official said.

The plant will be restarted on 4 October, the source added.

Market players said they expect phenol and acetone prices to rise because of the decrease in domestic supply.

The facility is the largest phenol/acetone unit in China.
