LONDON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical’s cracker at Tarragona in Spain is in the restart phase after planned maintenance which lasted for around six weeks, a company source said on Tuesday.
The source said that the cracker was expected to be online by 20 July.
The cracker, which according to ICIS data has the capacity to produce 660,000 tonnes/year of ethylene, was taken off line at the end of May.
The restart comes just as another four European cracker operators are preparing for their own upcoming maintence turnarounds, beginning in the second half of August.
These include Borealis in Finland, Naphthachimie in France, LyondellBasell in Germany and ExxonMobil in the UK. None have been directly confirmed.
US headquartered Dow Chemical also owns and operates three crackers at its site in Terneuzen, the Netherlands.
