SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan-based chemical producer Kuraray has completed the acquisition of US-based polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) maker Monosol for an undisclosed amount, Kuraray said on Wednesday.

“Kuraray today announces the completion of the transaction necessary to acquire MonoSol, having received formal approval by the regulatory authorities,” the firm said in a statement.

The acquisition is part of its strategy to expand the firm’s vinyl acetate chemical chains business, Kuraray said.

MonoSol is headquartered at Merriville in Indiana and has about 300 employees. The company, which has production sites in the US and the UK, makes poval films for various industrial applications such as packaging films for detergent products as well as agrochemicals and dyes.
