Japan's July ethylene exports up 2.6% from June to 38,966 tonnes

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s ethylene exports increased by 2.6% month on month to 38,966 tonnes in July, official data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) showed late on Friday.

This was a 15% increase from the same time a year earlier, according to the ministry.

Japan’s ethylene-equivalent exports – which include ethylene contained in derivative products – rose 2.5% month on month to 121,800 tonnes in July, but decreased 17% year on year, the data showed.

Among the exported ethylene derivatives, exports of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) rose 15% to 11,142 tonnes from the previous month, while 13,857 tonnes of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) was exported, a 27% month on month decrease, figures showed.

Japan’s ethylene-equivalent imports fell 34% to 59,200 tonnes in July, according to the ministry.
