HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acetic acid exports in June soared by nearly 73% year on year on shipments to Belgium that more than doubled and on increases to Mexico, Spain and Singapore, according to data released on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US acetic acid exports totalled 134,761 tonnes in June, compared with 78,079 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
June shipments to Belgium - the largest destination - totalled 61,840 tonnes, up by 142% compared with 25,530 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Shipments to Mexico - the second largest destination - rose by 18% to 32,986 tonnes, compared with 27,853 tonnes in June 2011.
Major US acetic acid sellers include BP, Celanese and Eastman Chemical.
