HOUSTON (ICIS)--A power failure at ExxonMobil’s Beaumont refinery in Texas caused several unit upsets, the company said in a regulatory filing made available on Thursday.
The outage, which happened early on Wednesday, will impact production, though ExxonMobil said all its contractual commitments will be met.
“Process streams were routed to the flare to minimise emissions, and the power was restored,” the company said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). “The refinery is working to restore normal operations.”
A source said it may take a while to get all the units back on line, but the outage “shouldn’t be a big deal”.
ExxonMobil did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
