Sumitomo Chemical Singapore to shut No 3 MMA line from 1 Sept

BRISBANE (ICIS)--Sumitomo Chemical Singapore is planning to shut its 90,000 tonne/year No 3 methyl methacrylate (MMA) line at Jurong Island from 1 September for maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The turnaround is expected to last more than a month and is slated to be restarted in early October this year, he added.

Meanwhile, the firm is expected to restart its 53,000 tonne/year No 1 MMA line at the same site following planned a turnaround that lasted three to four weeks, the source said.

The company also runs a third MMA line at the same site with 80,000 tonnes/year of capacity. The line is currently running at high rates, according to the source.

Sumitomo Chemical Singapore has a combined MMA capacity of 223,000 tonnes/year.
