SINGAPORE (ICIS)--JX Nippon Oil & Energy has shut down its olefins conversion unit (OCU) and cracker at Kawasaki, Japan, for scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The 460,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker was shut down on 13 August and will remain off line until 27 September, the source said.

The OCU, which can produce around 140,000 tonnes/year of propylene, was taken off line at the beginning of August and will restart by mid-October, the source added.

The planned turnaround is likely to have a slight impact on the regional supply situation of propylene.
