SIGAPORE (ICIS)--Sinopec SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical shut its three polymer plants in northern China on Tuesday for scheduled maintenance, a company source said.

Its 300,000 tonne/year linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) unit; 300,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant, and; 450,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) unit will be shut until late September, the source said.

The company’s 1m tonne/year naphtha cracker at the site, on the other hand, is due to shut on 22 August and will restart at the same time as the polymer plants, the source said.

Anticipating a decline in supply, market players have recently pushed up the prices of block copolymer PP.
