China’s Pingmei Shenma starts buliding ADA and capro units

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China Pingmei Shenma Group has started the construction of its 250,000 tonne/year adipic acid (ADA) and 200,000 tonne/year caprolactam (capro) unit at Pingdingshan city in Henan province, a company source said on Wednesday.

The company held a groundbreaking ceremony on 21 August, the source said.

The company will invest yuan (CNY) 6bn ($1bn) on the project, which will take five years to complete, the source added.

Capro is the feedstock to produce nylon 6, while adipic acid is the raw material to make nylon 6,6.

China Pingmei Shenma Group is a key manufacturer of nylon petrochemical products based in Asia.
