SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Sopo Chemical restarted its 500,000 tonne/year ethyl acetate (etac) plant at Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province on 23 August a day after an unexpected shutdown, a company source said on Friday.

The producer was running the plant about 50% of capacity before shutdown and was ramping up the production after the restart.

The company raised its etac offers by yuan (CNY)100/tonne ($16/tonne) to CNY6,400-6,500/tonne EXW (ex-works) after the plant shutdown.

The spot prices of ethyl acetate were assessed at CNY 6,200-6,350/tonne ($1,030-1,054/tonne) EXW (ex-works) in east China on 24 August, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
