SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Huizhou Zhongxin Chemical has delayed the restart date of its 200,000 tonne/year phenol and acetone unit at Huizhou in Guangdong province because of equipment issues, a company source said on Friday.

The unit was shut on 19 August for maintenance because there was a problem with the plant’s equipment, the source said.

“We are trying to solve the problem,” the source said, adding that a specific restart date could not yet be confirmed.

The company’s 25,000 tonne/year BPA unit is operating normally, but it may have to be shut if feedstock acetone inventories run out, the source added.
