SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Kuwait’s EQUATE is planning to restart its 550,000 tonne/year ethylene glycol (EG) unit in Shuaiba in the middle of November after it was shut on 31 July following a fire, the company said on Tuesday.
The company had previously said that the plant will be back online within approximately six weeks from the fire, but there was “a change in schedule”, the company statement quoted an official as saying.
The reason for the delay was not specified.
EQUATE is a joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), the Dow Chemical Company, Boubyan Petrochemical Company (BPC) and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC).
