SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Henan Shunda Chemical is currently running its 400,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant at Zhumadian in Henan province at 55% of capacity after restarting the unit on 29 August, a company source said on Friday.

The company had an outage from 27 August because of a mechanical problem, the source said.

Prior to the outage, the plant was operating at about 95% of capacity, the source said.

Major acetic acid producers in China include Celanese, BP YPC Acetyls Co (Byaco), Jiangsu Sopo, Shanghai Wujing Chemical, and Yankuang Cathay.
