SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan VCM (TVCM) has postponed the scheduled turnaround at its 410,000 tonne/year vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) plant in Kaohsiung, tentatively to end-October or early November, a company source said on Friday.

The producer initially planned to shut the facility for two weeks in the second half of August to replace the plant's catalyst, the source said.

However, the company decided to postpone the shutdown after discovering that the catalyst is still performing well during a recent decoking exercise early this month, the source said.

Consequently, TVCM has some cargo available for September-loading exports, the source said.

The VCM unit is currently running at more than 95% of capacity, according to the source.
