TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of caustic soda in July fell by 7.9% from the same time a year earlier, to 315,770 tonnes, reflecting lower domestic shipments and exports, official data from an industry association showed on Friday.
The country’s domestic shipments of caustic soda decreased by 6% year on year in July to 281,434 tonnes, while exports fell by 90% to 6,526 tonnes, according to the Japan Soda Industry Association (JSIA).
The country shipped 26,207 tonnes of soda ash domestically in July, down by 11% from July 2011, while exports doubled to 156 tonnes, according to the association.
