LONDON (ICIS)--INEOS Styrenics will permanently close its styrene monomer (SM) and polystyrene (PS) units in Marl in Germany on 15 October, a company source confirmed on Wednesday.

“Marl styrene monomer will be closing on 15 October as planned and polystyrene (PS) will also shut at the same time, maybe a few days before the styrene monomer plant,” the company source said.

INEOS Styrenics originally announced the planned closure in March this year.

The INEOS site at Marl consists of four plants, which produce 110,000 tonnes/year of expandable polystyrene (EPS), 260,000 tonnes/year of cumene, 180,000 tonne/year of PS and 350,000 tonne/year of styrene.
