China August PE, PP imports up by 15% from July – traders

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China is likely to have imported a total of 1.3m tonnes of combined polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) in August, up by 15.6% from the previous month, traders said on Tuesday.

An estimated 800,000 tonnes of PE and 500,000 tonnes of PP was brought into the country in last month, they said.

This means August PE imports will be up 17.47% month on month, while PP imports are likely to be up 12.73% based on the official data for July.

The official data for August imports will be released on 26 September.
