SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) plans to shut its 300,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant at Map Ta Phut in end September for a eight-day turnaround, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

The producer’s other HDPE plant at the same location with a 250,000 tonne/year capacity will be shut later in the day [11 September] because some equipment had to be cleaned, the source said.

The HDPE plant will resume production two or three days later, he added.

PTTGC’s low density PE (LDPE) plant was shut for two days last week also for cleaning purposes, he said.

"Production at the LDPE plant is expected to reach 100% capacity today [Tuesday],” he said.
