US ammonia imports down by 7% in July year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ammonia imports in July were down by about 7% from the same month in 2011, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Tuesday.

US ammonia imports declined to 519,595 tonnes in July from 557,768 tonnes in July 2011.

Imports fell in July on fewer imports from Trinidad & Tobago.

July imports increased from 517,875 tonnes imported in June.

Trinidad and Tobago at 305,626 tonnes was the major source of US ammonia imports, followed by Russia at 68,907 tonnes, Canada at 67,888 tonnes, Ukraine at 40,553 tonnes, Mexico at 35,999 tonnes and Korea at 622 tonnes.

Year to date through July, the US imported a total of 3,660,813 tonnes of ammonia.
