HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butadiene (BD) spot prices were assessed down by 2 cents/lb ($44/tonne, €34/tonne) on Friday amid flat demand and ample supply.
Market sources said spot prices were down notionally from 80-85 cents/lb to 78-83 cents/lb.
Sources said prices should be down, although they had not heard of a deal done during the week
US BD is less expensive than material found in the other regions.
Barring a natural disaster, market sources said they believe there will not be a marked change in market conditions for the rest of the year.
US producers of BD include ExxonMobil, LyondellBasell, Shell and TPC Group. Buyers include Ashland, INVISTA, LANXESS, Michelin and Negromex.
