Argentina’s August chemical production falls 0.4% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s August chemical production was down by 0.4% year on year, industry sources said on Thursday.

Production of basic chemical products was down by 2.3% in August compared with the same month of the previous year, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was down by 7.2%, the group said. Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber was down by 9.4%.

Agrochemicals production rose by 1.1% in August, while production of pharmaceutical products declined by 0.9% year on year.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products rose in August by 10.0%. Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyres production combined increased by 8.4%.

Rubber tyre production was up by 19.9%, while August production of plastic products increased by 6.1% year on year, INDEC said.
