ATLANTA, Georgia (ICIS)--The polyurethane (PU) industry needs to demonstrate how chemistry is linked to jobs, safety and innovation, the president of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) said on Monday.
Among several initiatives, the ACC is focused on how the PU industry can reduce energy costs with insulation in homes and by making automobiles lighter, said Cal Dooley, the group's president.
Dooley made his comments during the 2012 Polyurethanes Technical Conference in Atlanta.
The group is working with lawmakers to develop a comprehensive domestic energy policy and increasing awareness of chemistry’s role in solving energy challenges.
Meanwhile, laws have emerged to control and regulate the PU industry, while the industry needs to maintain its position at the forefront of innovation, Dooley said.
