SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) reduced the operating rate of its 515,000 tonne/year mixed-feed I-4 No 1 cracker at Map Ta Phut to 75% capacity because of mechanical problems, a company official said on Tuesday.

The cracker experienced quench oil-related mechanical problems on 15 September, and the company has since reduced its operating rate, the official added.

The I-4 No 1 cracker was previously operating at 85-90% capacity, the official said, adding that the mechanical issues are expected to be resolved in two weeks’ time and the operating rates would be revised back to 85-90% capacity.

The company is currently running its 400,000 tonne/year I-4 No 2 ethane cracker at Map Ta Phut at full capacity, the official added.
