SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jilin Petrochemical started up its new 200,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) unit in northeast China on Thursday, a company source said.

The new plant at Jilin will raise the company’s ABS capacity at the site to 380,000 tonnes/year, the source said.

Jilin Petrochemical’s 180,000 tonne/year ABS plant  is currently operating at full capacity, the source said.

On-spec cargos from the new plant will be available in the east China market in end-October, a local distributor said.

The producer’s upstream 460,000 tonne/year styrene monomer (SM) unit at the same site will provide raw material supply to the ABS plants.
