LONDON (ICIS)--Consumption of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) biodiesel components in the Czech Republic edged up 3% year on year in the first six months of 2012 to 130,000 tonnes, the Czech Biodiesel Producers Association said on Thursday.

Domestic production of the components fell 6% in the same period to 99,000 tonnes, meaning the consumption increase was made possible by imports, it added.

Czech production of bioethanol component, which is added to petrol, approximately doubled year on year to 51,000 tonnes during the six months, the association also noted.

The mandatory share of biodiesel components in sold diesel is 6% in the Czech Republic, while the statutory biopetrol components share is 4.1%, it added.
