HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical on Wednesday reported flaring from its Freeport complex in Texas, citing a gas compressor trip at the site.

Emissions associated with the event were released on 1-2 October, the company said in the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Dow has two crackers at the site, Freeport 7 and 8, with a combined 1.6m tonnes/year of ethylene capacity.

Freeport 7, which has 612,000 tonnes/year of capacity, was one of the sources of the emissions, Dow said.

Market sources said the unit resumed operations within a day.

A Dow spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

The same cracker was briefly down in mid-September because of a compressor shutdown.
