SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Nantong Xingchen Synthetic Material is on track to restart its 70,000 tonne/year polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) plant in China’s Jiangsu province in mid-October, a company source said on Tuesday.

The PBT plant was taken off line on 20 August for maintenance, the source said.

The restart of the PBT plant will ease the current tight supply in the market, as a separate PBT plant in China is shut at the moment, according to market participants.

Bulk PBT cargoes were heard sold at yuan (CNY) 15,000-15,600/tonne EXW on Tuesday.

Natural-grade PBT is compounded with other addictives and is used largely in the electronic industry.
