Correction: In the ICIS story headlined “US Eastman reports power failure at Longview cracker” dated 10 October 2012, please read the headline as “…power disruption at Texas plant…” instead of “…failure at Longview cracker…”
Please read in the first paragraph … US propylene producer Eastman Chemical reported a power disruption at its propanol plant at its Longview site in Texas … instead of …a power failure at its Longview cracker in Texas …. A corrected story follows.

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US propylene producer Eastman Chemical reported a power disruption at its propanol plant at its Longview site in Texas, according to a state filing made available on Wednesday.

According to the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), the incident took place on 9 October.

The power failure shut down Eastman’s propanol plant, causing high pressure in the reactor, forcing the company to stop the feed and lower the reactor pressure.

As a result, the company reported estimated emissions 543.4lbs of n-propyl alcohol.

Attempts to reach a company spokesperson were unsuccessful.
