US August PET exports rise 17% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in August rose 17% year on year, according to trade data made available on Friday by the International Trade Commission (ITC).

August PET exports totalled 34,519 tonnes, up 4,955 tonnes from 29,564 tonnes in the same month last year.

Month on month, PET exports climbed 25% to 34,519 tonnes from 27,660 tonnes in July 2012.

Meanwhile, August PET imports fell 9% year on year to 43,204 tonnes from 47,321 tonnes in August 2011, according to ITC.

Month on month, PET imports were up 17% to 43,204 tonnes from 36,854 tonnes in July 2012.

US PET producers include DAK Americas, Indorama, Mossi & Ghisolfi (M&G) Group, and NanYa.
