HOUSTON (ICIS)--US glycol ethers contract prices that rolled over from September into October are likely to remain at that level until the new year, a source said on Monday.

With seasonally weak downstream markets for solvents and steady feedstock prices, buyers are not expected to add to inventories of glycol ethers without a better indication of where prices might be in the first quarter of 2013, a trader said.

Prices for butyl glycol (EB) for October were assessed by ICIS pricing in a range of 83-85 cents/lb ($1,830-1,874/tonne, €1,409-1,443/tonne), steady from the September assessment.

Butyl di-glycol (DB) was also steady from September and assessed in a range of 96-98/cents lb.

Propylene glycol methyl ether (PM) and the acetate form (PMA) were assessed steady at 102-104 cents/lb.

Only one producer had nominated an increase for October, but a source said that producer backed off when other producers did not move.

US producers of glycol ethers include Eastman Chemical, LyondellBasell, Sasol and Dow Chemical.
