SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Xuzhou Haitian Petrochemical plans to start the commercial production at its new 200,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant in Jiangsu province either in late October or in November, a company source said on Tuesday.

The Chinese producer started a trial run at the PP plant in early October and plans to achieve on-spec production at the end of this month or early November, the source said.

Local distributors said the supply of PP may increase after Xuzhou Haitian starts up the new plant.

The prices of PP in east China on 17 October is at yuan (CNY) 11,250-11,400/tonne ($1,797-1,821/tonne), according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.

Xuzhou Haitian has a separate 100,000 tonne/year PP powder plant at the same site.
