SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Imports of aqueous caustic soda in ?xml:namespace>Singapore fell by 44% in September month-on-month amid slow downstream demand, industry sources said on Wednesday.
Caustic soda imports in Singapore were at 10,419 tonnes in September, a decline of 8,341 tonnes from the figure recorded in August at 18,760 tonnes, data from International Enterprise (IE) Singapore shows.
Singapore has imported a total of 104,835 tonnes of caustic soda to date in 2012 and the total imports for the whole of 2011 was 135,550 tonnes, according to the data.
“End-user market is not good in Singapore. Every [downstream] sector is slowing down, which weakens demand for caustic soda,” a caustic soda importer in Singapore said. By: Feliana Widjaja+65 6780 4327
