SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Evonik Degussa has formed a new group in Houston, Texas, US, which is tasked to boost the resource-efficiency of products for the oil and gas industries, the company said on Tuesday.

The group is called Evonik Oil & Gas Group (EOGG).

“The oil and gas industries are rapidly growing and demand for chemicals and plastics within these sectors reflect this trend,” said Ted Pettijohn, senior vice president of growth and development at Evonik Degussa, in a statement.

“We have identified several of our products such as friction reducers, corrosion inhibitors, and viscosity modifiers for drilling fluids and flexible piping, which can be used to create more resource-efficient and sustainable applications for the oil and gas industries,” Pettijohn said.

Evonik Degussa is the North American arm of German chemical firm Evonik Industries.
