HOUSTON (ICIS)--Unigel’s acrylonitrile (ACN) plant in Coatzacoalcos in the Mexican state of Veracruz has shut early for maintenance, a source said on Friday.
Maintenance at the 60,000 tonne/year plant had been planned for November, but instead the facility was shut for a turnaround on Thursday, the source said.
Market sources said the plant would be shut for maintenance until the end of November.
The ACN facility has seen its share of ups and down this year.
In March, propylene supply issues caused the company to shut the ACN plant for about two weeks.
In August, the facility was restarted after a period of time when manufacturing costs made it too expensive to run the plant at a profit. The company did not disclose when it had shut the facility.
