HOUSTON (ICIS)--The November benzene contract settled at an all-time high of $4.90/gal ($1,467/tonne, €1,129/tonne) on Wednesday, up by 50 cents/gal from previous month, according to trade participants on Wednesday citing recent record highs in the spot market and strain inventories.
The settlement gain was in line with market expectations from earlier in the week.
Benzene spot prices were well above the $5.00/gal mark in October, with a record high trade achieved at $5.35/gal FOB (free on board).
