SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Maoming Petrochemical is planning to reduce the operating rate of its 200,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene/linear low density polyethylene (HDPE/LLDPE) swing plant at Maoming in south China to 50% on 2 November, a company source said on Thursday.

The company lowered its plant’s operating rate because of extrusion & pelleting unit issue, the source said.

The run rate of the plant, which produces mainly LLDPE, will be capped at 50% for about 9 days, the source added.

The supply of LLDPE is expected to decrease in south China as the plant lower its operating rates, a major local trader said.
