SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan's Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) will shut its 240,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) plant in Mailiao in the first quarter of next year for maintenance, a company source said on Friday.
“We will shut the ACN plant in January or February next year for one month for annual maintenance,” the source said.
The exact date of the turnaround has not been confirmed, according to the source.
FPC has two ACN lines – each with a 120,000 tonne/year capacity – in Mailiao.
“We are now building up inventories ahead of the turnaround and have no spot material as most of our output is for captive use,” the source at FPC said.
FPC mainly supplies its ACN output to its downstream acrylic fibre (AF) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plants, the source said.
