Chemical explosion near Montreal kills two workers, injures 19

TORONTO (ICIS)--An explosion on Thursday at a pharmaceuticals plant east of Montreal, Canada, involving acetone killed two workers, injured 19 others, and heavily damaged the facility.

Neptune Technologies & Bioressources said the accident at its plant in Sherbrooke occurred on Thursday afternoon  at around 13:30 local time. The precise cause was not yet known. Neptune uses acetone as a solvent in its production processes.

Sherbrooke city officials said the explosion and subsequent fire did not pose a danger to neighbouring residents.
