SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Nan Ya Plastics’ 400,000 tonne/year dioctyl phthalate (DOP) plant in Mailiao, Taiwan, is currently shut for maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The unit was shut on 4-5 November, with no expected restart date yet, the source said.

“It is likely that the DOP unit will be restarted once our 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) plant restarts, depending on market conditions,” the source added.

The company’s 200,000 tonne/year 2-EH plant was taken off line in mid-September for turnaround and is expected to be restarted in mid-November.

Phthalate anhydride (PA) and 2-EH are used as a feedstock for the production of DOP.
